![]() ![]() I really hope Microsoft is putting at least some work on Edge for Android behind-the-scenes, because simply put: Edge on Android is really bad compared to Edge on PC. It all comes down to the whole 'ecosystem' point - using the same browser across multiple devices to keep you in sync, while being the best browsers - or at least good enough that they're usable. TLDR, Edge on Android is really lagging behind in terms of mostly everything, and doesn't feel like my 'first choice' as it does on PC, owing to Chromium base version, overall UI responsiveness, and performance. For people who want to know, I'm using a midranger Samsung device, and other Chromium based browsers perform a lot better than Edge.I'm an avid Edge user on PC, but it definitely isn't my first choice on Android. Random and very frequent framedrops across the entire browser are very noticeable. The same applies to the overall UI responsiveness too - its just not smooth. ![]() For instance, in dark mode, when we swipe the address bar to switch tabs, it displays a very blunt white rectangular bar as its swiped. The Edge UI doesn't feel polished enough either. Even Brave for Android is faster than Edge, for comparison. Talk about performance, I feel like Edge on Android is one of the worst performing Chromium browsers. For context, the latest Chromium version for Android at the time of typing this is 88. The current Edge version on PC is 90, whereas the same on Android is 46 (in Beta) (thanks to u/Neeat_freak for correcting me, its version 77). Microsoft Edge on Android - as we all know, is an important app both for Microsoft and for Edge users to fully transition into Microsoft Edge from any other browser.Microsoft Edge on PC is better than ever, and at this point its very clear that the Edge team is putting a lot of work into it.On the contrary, its Android counterpart is really lagging behind in terms of updates, performance, etc. The new version 68 is currently in a staged rollout.UPDATE: Microsoft Edge Canary has been released in Google Play Store with Chromium 91. Talk about performance, I feel like Edge on Android is one of the worst performing Chromium browsers. In addition, we have made over 200 fixes in this release in order to deliver the best possible browsing experience to those who are not settling for pre-installed browsers and are choosing a personal one. ![]() ![]() ![]() What methods did your students try? What tools did they use? What worked and what didn’t? Having students explicitly state how they got to their solution (or even where they got stuck) challenges them to examine their process and draw conclusions from their experience. If possible, make math puzzles physical using recycled craft supplies or modular tools.Īfterward, have a class discussion or put up math journal prompts. Use problems like the mobius strip to awe and amaze your students before drawing them into a larger discussion about the mathematical concept that it represents. ![]() If the problem is grade-appropriate and solvable, students will learn more from applying their own reasoning to it than just watching you solve it for them. Give your students space to struggle with a problem and apply their own solutions before jumping in to help them. She found that “playful, exploratory learning leads to more creative and flexible use of materials than does explicit training from an adult.” Rachel Keen, from the Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia, conducted a study about problem-solving skills in preschoolers. Math puzzles help build the essential balance between thinking and remembering. Kitty Rutherford, a Mathematics Consultant in North Carolina, emphasizes that math puzzles and games shouldn’t be based solely on mental math skills, but on “conceptual understanding” that builds fluency over time. Instead, use them to reinforce the concepts they’ve already learned. While math puzzles are a great way to engage your students in developing critical thinking skills, they’re not a tool for teaching important math concepts. However, if the problems are too difficult to solve, there’s a good chance they’ll get frustrated and give up early. If the problems are too easy, students will get bored and disengage from the lesson. Here are some suggestions for making the most of your lesson time: Make sure the puzzles are the right level for your class Now that you’ve got some great math puzzles, it might be tricky to figure out how to best incorporate them into your classroom. Math games can help students build a basic understanding of essential math concepts, and as another study shows, can also help them retain concepts longer. Puzzles challenge students to understand structure and apply logical thinking skills to new problems.Ī study from the Eurasia Journal of Mathematics, Science and Technology Educationfound that puzzles “develop logical thinking, combinatorial abilities, strengthen the capacity of abstract thinking and operating with spatial images, instill critical thinking and develop mathematical memory.”Īll these skills allow young students to build a foundation of skills they’ll draw on for the rest of their lives, no matter what kind of post-secondary route they pursue. Why use math puzzles to teach? Math puzzles encourage critical thinkingĬritical thinking and logic skills are important for all careers, not just STEM-related ones. With older students, use mobius bands to talk about geometry and surface area. Have them model the problem with strips of paper and see for themselves how it works in real life. Is it magic? Is it geometry? Your students will be so amazed they might have a hard time figuring it out. ![]() ![]() The single and small double sizes are great for snug spaces, perfect for children’s and spare bedrooms. "Nashville" still reads across the back of the collar, with the navy stripe now framed in Gold. The Predators' celebration of Music City has been expanded in the uniform, with the piano keys around the inside of the collar and guitar pick alternate logo remaining on the right shoulder and the guitar strings over the back numbers extended to the arm numbers as well. The navy paneling and accents formerly seen near the shoulders have moved to the collar on the 2017-18 version. Nashville's Gold is even more prominent on the front as the white piping has been removed and the white stripes on the arms now separate the navy and Gold. The club will continue to wear the Gold helmets they donned full-time for the 2016-17 season. With the new ADIZERO jerseys, Nashville chose to build upon the bold, stark look established in 2011 with the adoption of Gold as the franchise's primary color. The 2017-18 season brought new uniforms designed by adidas for the 31 NHL clubs. The saber-toothed tiger logo was co-designed by JDK Design of Burlington, Vermont and Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence of Nashville. The cave, located beneath the building, is preserved under concrete for historic and educational purposes. The discovery, made in August 1971, marks only the fifth of its kind in North America. Scientists believe that some time during the last glacial period (15,000-80,000 years ago) part of the cave was the den of the saber-toothed tiger. Radiocarbon tests on the specimen revealed that it could have possibly been one of the last of its breed to exist. Further digging revealed a cave containing the nine-inch fang and a foreleg bone of a saber-toothed tiger, extinct for at least 10,000 years. Construction workers drilled through 20 feet of solid rock before coming to a soft muddy area. In May of 1971, excavation began at the downtown Nashville site of what today is the 28-story UBS Tower (formerly First American Center). The Predators unveiled their logo, a saber-toothed tiger, in Nashville's downtown First American Center on September 25, 1997, 26 years after a fang and foreleg bone of a saber-toothed tiger were found in a cave just below the building's address. ![]() ![]() ![]() Go to the Lofoten Krigsminne Museum (the War Memorial Museum), explore the town, and if you like hiking, hike up to Svolvaer Fløya for a spectacular view. To get here, you might need to take multiple flights or long car rides with a combination of ferries. This is a rather remote location, so it takes some time to get here. We found this out on our trip to the Lofoten Islands, which I will talk about a little later. Specifically, I’m using the Nucleo-F042K6, as it has a built-in USB device peripheral (full speed), and it does not require an external crystal.
